Most furniture is designed to be seen from the front. We design from underneath — the joint you never look at is the one that decides whether a chair survives a decade of being dragged across a floor.

A joint cut by hand tells you what the wood is about to do.

Eleven benches, two steam kilns, no assembly line. One maker takes a piece from rough stock to finish, which is slower, more expensive, and the only method we have ever used.
